1.1       Introduction

A short summary of the various steps involved in setting up an on-line optimization run is first presented and detailed descriptions of each step follow. The combined-cycle model as described in the model section.

 

The steps involved in preparing for an on-line optimization run can be divided into 2 phases. In the first phase, the files necessary for the run are generated by the user and saved in the appropriate directories. The list comprises of the Simulink model of the process to be optimised and its auxiliary files (Section 1.2), the executable files (“.EXE files”) for process optimization (“OPT” – Section 1.3) and system identification (“ID” –  Section 1.4), as well as the data required for initialising the first cycle (Section 1.5).

The second phase involves setting the parameters prior to the on-line run using the options menu (Section 1.6) and on-line-wizard (Section 1.7).

The steps are summarized in Fig.1.
